Where does the time go? It doesn’t seem that long ago we were counting down to the start of the 2025 season with our club-by-club preview issue, but here we are already, in the blink of an eye, contemplating an intriguing set of end of season play-off fixtures in both the Super League and the Championship.
What we couldn’t have predicted back then was that the League One play-off series would be cancelled almost at the last minute, due to the momentous behind the scenes changes that have taken place at the Rugby Football League and which will result in an expanded 14-team Super League and a merged Championship and League One competition next season.
Putting the off-field drama to one side, we are keeping our focus on what’s happening on the field here at Rugby League World, and the big question is can Hull Kingston Rovers go all the way to Old Trafford and complete a remarkable clean sweep of three trophies, having already collected the Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield? There are five other clubs with their eyes on the prize and we assess their chances inside.
In addition to our regular domestic and international coverage, Wigan’s Australian PNG international Emily Veivers answers 20 quickfire questions, we go back to school to follow King James’s High School in Huddersfield on an overseas tour to Perpignan, and we get on our bikes (not literally) to catch up with the latest fundraising endeavours on behalf of RL Cares in the USA.
There’s plenty to enjoy inside this issue for any rugby league fan.
