LEIGH LEOPARDS ran out 20-10 winners against Castleford Tigers at The Jungle tonight.
The Leopards were actually down 4-0 before registering 20 unanswered points to take home a priceless two points back to the Leigh Sports Village.
Leigh head coach Adrian Lam was pleased to get the win after the game, saying: “It’s a difficult place to come and win so we knew the challenge ahead of us.
“We bombed three tries and you can’t do that over here. We created the space and then just dropped the ball clean – why is that? I will get to the bottom of that.
“We had three late pull outs for us which would always make things difficult. We weren’t perfect but we got the victory we deserved.
“On a short turnaround, Matt Moylan, Gaz O’Brien and Tom Amone pulled out.
“As a medical team, we reviewed some different footage from the game and we thought that was best for the welfare of Tom that we followed the protocols of a HIA.”
Lam also hailed the efforts of Edwin Ipape and Lachlan Lam for their game-turning efforts.
“When you put things into context and players playing out of position, we needed two points and to get out of here.
“I thought there were a few calls that kept the game closer than it should have been and it was a big play from Edwin Ipape to run the distance and Lachlan Lam to hold Tex Hoy up.”
So how will Lam go into a five-day turnaround against Wigan Warriors on Tuesday?
“We won’t be training too much. We have gone into a six-day turnaround today, then a five-day turnaround against Wigan to another five-day turnaround against Hull FC.
“That’s four wins in a row for us which is handy considering where we sit in the table.”
The Leigh boss explained why Bailey Hodgson didn’t play against his former club on debut.
“Bailey has only trained with us for one day, he is one to look forward to in the future.
“He will have to earn his stripes to get in there but we will see how he goes in training.”
