Airlie Birds embroiled in contract court case

Hull FC are being taken to court by former full-back Shannon McDonnell, who claims they went back on an offer of an extended contract.

The 26-year-old Australian claims he entered talks with former coach Peter Gentle about extending his two-year deal, but new boss Lee Radford withdrew the offer. McDonnell felt an agreement had already been reached and was so angry that he resigned and instructed his lawyers.

The Black and Whites are free to settle the matter out of court, but the Hull Daily Mail suggested the club are planning to fight it every step of the way.

McDonnell hasn’t played for the club since tearing his hamstring against Warrington in the Challenge Cup semi-final last year.
