Bradford determined to finish difficult year on a high

Bradford Bulls secured a 36-22 victory over Dewsbury Rams to book their place in the Championship Shield Final.

They face Sheffield Eagles this weekend, only two weeks after the Bulls produced a destructive 80-0 performance against them.

Coach Rohan Smith said: “The boys have recovered well from the weekend; a good hard game against Dewsbury has got us ready for this week’s final.

“We want to finish the season on a high and hold that silverware up at the end of the day. As much as anything we want to perform well and go through the processes of playing a strong skilful brand and entertain the crowd.

“You’d imagine they’ve got a little bit of extra motivation. They’ve got an opportunity to win some silverware. I don’t think form and previous encounters count anymore once we get to the final. It is a matter of performing well on the day and whoever works the hardest generally comes out with the result.”

Sheffield Eagles put their off-field troubles aside to beat Halifax 46-32. On the performance Coach Mark Aston told the club website: “We let ourselves down against Bradford and we wanted to make it right, I was immensely proud.

“We completed very high, that’s what you need to do in semi-finals. We showed what we are about and showed the ability that is within the team.”

The Eagles will be looking for an improved performance against Bradford this weekend following their 80-0 defeat earlier this season.
