Howarth, who has also had spells at St Helens and Salford amongst others, has signed a one-month loan deal with the Bulls following an injury to hooker Joe Lumb.

The hooker trained with the Bulls for the first time today and is expected to be in their match-day squad for Sunday’s game against Halifax.

“I can’t wait to get going now at this massive club,” said Howarth. “Hopefully, I’ll be in the team on Sunday and I can help the team towards another two points.

“I am a playmaking number nine. I am going to play a lot with the ball and create things and Rohan has given me a free reign in the middle.

“I’m looking forward to getting out onto the pitch and playing some rugby and enjoying myself.”

“It’s a good opportunity to strengthen our squad,” said Bulls boss Rohan Smith. “Joe Lumb has had a bit of bad news with a knee injury, which will set him back a few weeks, so we needed to bring in some depth at dummy-half. Stu has got a lot of experience and he’s a craft dummy-half and I look forward to him doing what he does best.”
