Bradford Bulls hooker Adam O’Brien has insisted that links suggesting he may move to Leeds Rhinos were nothing more than ‘rumours’.
Speculation lingered throughout the off-season that O’Brien was being lined up by the Rhinos, however a move never materialised.
Speaking for the first time on the subject, the 22-year-old brushed off the speculation.
“There were rumours,” O’Brien told BBC Radio Leeds.
“But I think that’s all it came to. I don’t know if it was someone on a message board or someone making a little lie up, gossip, as you’d say.
“But there was no truth in it and I’m happy to be at the Bulls.”
O’Brien admitted that the speculation had been an unwanted distraction.
“Definitely, especially when my dad rang me asking when I’d signed for Leeds and all this. I didn’t know anything about it and then I looked on the internet and loads of people were talking about it. It was just a rumour, but for me I’m just concentrating on the Bulls and focusing on the season.”
