Wigan Warriors may make the bold call of leaving out star winger Joe Burgess for this Friday’s trip to Castleford, as coach Shaun Wane ponders changes ahead of the trans-Pennine trip.
Following the Warriors’ 22-20 loss to Hull Kingston Rovers at the weekend, Wane is set to reveal his 19-man squad later today (Wednesday) for the game – and he revealed it’s not exactly a certainty that the England international plays against the Tigers.
“I’ll have a look at Budgies’s game, have a chat with him towards the end of the week,” he told Wigan Today.
“Whether he plays or not, I’ll decide then.”
Burgess’ form has been far from perfect in 2015, with the NRL-bound winger making a number of high-profile errors in recent weeks, including against Rovers at the weekend, one of which directly led to a Ken Sio try.
