THE Castleford & Featherstone ARL is to relaunch its two Open Age knockout cup competitions to take into account the fact that several member clubs have remained winter-based, with others having moved to summer.
The 2016-17 David Poulter Open Cup will climax with a final in mid-April, while the Edgar Hanson Invitation Cup will be played as a summer competition.
The draw for the Open Cup will be made at the league’s next meeting on Tuesday 6 September.
Meanwhile, Secretary Garry Longhorn has retired.
Longhorn, who will continue to oversee matters until a successor steps forward, has been in post for 32 years.
Chairman Phil Hodgson said: “Garry has served the league superbly for over three decades. He is vastly experienced, and will be badly missed.”
