Castleford Tigers sign Garreth Carvell

Castleford Tigers has announced the signing of Garreth Carvell from Hull FC on a season-long loan deal.

The 33-year-old, who has played seven times in the First Utility Super League this season, will link up with the Tigers with immediate effect.

Carvell has won the Tetley’s Challenge Cup four times as a player, and he will not be cup-tied for Castleford’s semi-final clash with Widnes Vikings on August 10th.

He has become a mainstay in the competition over the last 15 years, after spells at Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Bradford Bulls and Hull FC. He is sure to add size and experience to the Castleford pack.

Castleford boss Daryl Powell commented: “Garreth is a very experienced front rower who will complement and strengthen our options during a critical point of the season.

“His experience as a tough international prop with real size and ability to break the defensive line is outstanding. I have worked with him before and I am confident he will fit into our system with ease.”
