Craven set for move to Championship club

Widnes Vikings utility back Danny Craven will not be at the club next season, after taking up a deal with a Championship club.

TotalRL understands that Craven, who has been on loan at Featherstone Rovers this season, has signed a deal with a club in the second-tier for the 2017 season.

The 24-year-old, was has scored eight tries in 19 appearances for Rovers this season, made his professional debut for the Vikings in 2o1o and featured in their early years back in Super League.

However, he found his opportunities limited last year, and subsequently spent time on loan at Halifax before returning to the Vikings later in the year, scoring the winning drop-goal in their 21-20 victory over Salford  in last year’s Qualifiers.

He was sent to Featherstone for the 2016 season, but has been allowed to sign on with a Championship team for next season.

Craven can play at full-back, centre or in the halves.
