Dorn back for Cas

Luke Dorn has been named in Castleford’s 19-man squad that will take on Salford this weekend.

The Australian fullback has been out for almost two months with a hamstring injury picked up during Castleford’s defeat to Salford.

However, he is in contention to make his return against the Red Devils on Saturday, with Larne Patrick and Ryan Boyle also returning to the squad.

Daryl Powell has tried several players at fullback in the absence of Dorn, with Denny Solomona and Ryan Hampshire the two utilised at the back most prominently during the absence of the 33-year-old.

His return to the side comes at a key time for the Tigers, who are still without stand-off Ben Roberts. Frontrow Grant Millington played at six in last week’s defeat to St Helens, but Dorn’s return should allow Hampshire to move to stand-off, with Dorn fitting in at fullback.

Daryl Powell said: “Things have been quite tough for us as you will know from an injury perspective but I thought last week was a really positive step in the right direction. Our defensive toughness, which will certainly be tested on Saturday, was a massive improvement and we are looking to be consistent in this area for the rest of the season. Attitude is a big thing in the league and ours was right where it needed to be last week.”
