Widnes Vikings captain Kevin Brown believes that a mid-season international for England would be a great way of benefiting the national side in coming years.
Similar to the ANZAC Test between Australia and New Zealand, which takes place this week, Brown thinks that by having an international fixture in the middle of the season, England would be able to truly reap the benefits.
Steve McNamara’s side have a warm-up match against France prior to the Test series with New Zealand later this year.
Brown told the Super League Show: “That will only harden them for the end of the season, we need something similar.”
He continued: “Australia v New Zealand will be 80 minutes of sheer intense rivalry.
“I think it would be good for the players getting together and playing [in mid-season].”
