Wigan Warriors forward has picked out stand-in fullback Dan Sarginson for special praise after the opening 11 rounds of their season – and says he’s his choice for the club’s best player in 2016.
Sarginson has played both fullback and centre as Wigan continually rotate their side due to injuries, with Sarginson likely to be at the back again tonight for the visit of Huddersfield.
And Farrell says that Sarginson is the Wigan player who’s impressed the greatest thus far for Wigan in 2016, and says his versatility has been crucial for the Warriors without Sam Tomkins.
“For us, the player who has impressed me the most is Dan Sarginson,” he wrote in his Wigan Today column.
“He’ll be the first to hold his hand up and say he’s made mistakes, but he just keeps turning up and turning up.
“When we are blowing, he steps in and keeps going and going – and he’s doing it while playing in a position he’s not too familiar with.
“He is my pick for our player of the year so far.”
