  1. Peter Bateson who played for Batley over 2 spells passed away this last weekend. Born in East Hull, Peter took up rugby league at Southcoates School and played in junior football before being signed by Batley in 1952, making his professional debut in the Boxing Day Derby against Dewsbury that same year. Bateson went on to make 55 appearances for the West Yorkshire side. Peter ended his career at Hull in January 1962, as the young Arthur Keegan was emerging as a future test full-back, but returned to Batley for a short time in 1963-64 and 1964-65, making a further 22 appearances in total and adding another 45 successful goal-kicks. He then continued in the game by turning out for BOCM and played in their Challenge Cup-tie against Liverpool City in February 1967.
  2. Combines the cerise and fawn with cherry and white
  3. Out of the country? ......so you ARE going to Widnes then? ?
  4. To incorporate cerise, fawn (?), cherry and white
  5. Raven sports version of this?
  6. Left after 10 minutes of second half, along with a good number of others. Totally disillusioned at Batleys ineptitude in attack and defence. Schoolboys are told to tackle, run hard and straight and back up......either the coach doesn't understand this simple philosophy or the players can't do any of it. Last time I will be at the Mount till I see some drastic changes in attitudes from within the club I'm afraid to say!
  7. Despite some huff and puff and a number of workmanlike performances, the Bulldogs never showed enough speed or inventiveness in attack, nor resilience in defence. It's a very simple game.....run hard, run straight, back up and tackle. Have we mastered any of them to trouble the teams above?

  9. Don't think anyone would have recognised Bulldogs or Bulls at that time. Batley beat Bradford 7-0.....seemples!
  10. This latest trend of idiots running onto pitches has to stop, and stop sharpish. Cos, it’s only a matter of time before somebody does it at the Mount........ ........and gets "The Man of the Match", award..
  11. Good to be a 40 minute believer!
  12. Knew a guy who bored bolt fixing holes into Chobham Armour for Chieftan tanks...each one took 2 days on a large pillar drill!
  13. A somewhat one sided view...... https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/sport/yorkcityknights/17354936.report-positives-for-york-city-knights-despite-yorkshire-cup-semi-final-loss-at-batley-bulldogs/
