  1. Didn't someone say that the French "derbies" would attract 20,000 it something? It would be great, but not on Thursday nights. Was there any Toulouse supporters?
  2. And what happened to Toronto? what will happen to Cornwall? Remember how London, Carlisle, Cardiff, Kent, etc attracted good numbers early on in their short lived expansion dreams? that argument is a rubbish one! Huddersfield is the birthplace of the game, but that was out of convenience and geography not because it's a hotbed of the game, again, people using that argument to suggest Huddersfield should be pulling bigger crowds is a rubbish one! Come up with something a bit more substantial and thoughtful.
  3. Can't compare football to rugby league, can't compare football to anything really. But Huddersfield just isn't a big rugby town, it's a student and commuter town now, and most casual sports fans in and around the town are only interested in football. Add into that, a team doing well, looking to get into the top flight for only the 2nd time in 50 years and it was £10 a ticket, which for casual football fans is an absolute bargain, they're also charging £10 for tickets for their next game and have had a few games recently as little as £5. The Giants would be hammered as usual if they made games £5 and £10.
  4. The game is in a bit of a rut really, fans are so used to just paying for a season ticket and are reluctant and loathe to pay for anything else. Without wanting to cheapen the game even more, we need to find a way to include cup and play off games in these season tickets. I actually spoke to some Giants fans who when they found out the price said "F-that"! An idea I thought of was that a season ticket couod be used for cup games if that ticket hasn't already been used for a league match, I've missed 2 league games already this year due to other commitments, so why not use my season ticket for a cup game instead? I realise of course that gates and takings are split 3 ways so the Giants don't gain much, but could be worth looking at?
  5. Hull wanted to charge £25 Huddersfield said no, make it £15 Hull wouldn't agree to that and insisted on £25, which is £4 more than a regular Giants home game. Eventually it was the RFL who set the £18 price. Ticket sales apparently not good.
  6. Regarding London and their grounds, I look back fondly on the afternoons out at at Copthall, Griffin Park and the Stoop in particular, the locals were friendly, warm, happy to see you, the atmosphere was decent, it just felt really welcoming. I was wary of Ealing but have to say that it was one of the better experiences of watching RL the last few years, albeit expensive, again, friendly locals, you were welcomed by the stewards, club officials and London supporters and with the food vans and bars and ability to wander around wherever you choose it was a fantastic experience. Now compare that with the unwelcoming experience at Hull where you are treated like a criminal from the moment you arrive at the stadium to the moment you leave, the only friendless I encountered at Hull was the car park attendant. Even Wigan, and our own stadium, although doing their best just feel so unwelcoming, cold and drab sometimes, added to the long, cold winters nights for the first 10 weeks of the season and it's no wonder a lot of people aren't flocking to rugby league. It also doesn't help that we have a good product on the field but unless you're a TV sports subscriber, not many people can see it. Anyway, shame about London, always enjoyed my trips there wherever they played.
  7. I said the same, looked to be about the same amount of home fans we've had all season.
  8. The Giants official shop has closed, only online orders of a very sparse range, mainly in black or purple via PlayerLayer were available but they soon sold out on their minimal stock, haven't cleared quite a few orders since December and have had lots of furious customers not received their orders or any communication. It appears that PlayerLayer had stock issues with their overseas suppliers and weren't actually able to get their hands on any stock to sell, but they failed to the communicate this information to the Giants, who were unaware that their supporters were buying stock that didn't exist. It now appears that PlayerLayer went bust or were taken over recently, so who knows what's happening, but Giants currently have zero merchandise for sale! Edit; some tacky stuff in grey and black available here http://www.bigdog-giants.com
  9. It seems Cyan and Black is the flavour of the month where RL is concerned? I'm sure there's 3 or 4 clubs including my own, already using these colours as 'alternative' colours. Very meh!
  10. Still count on the official attendance don't they?
  11. They prefer a ground with a good "tv arc" lots of people visible where the cameras can pick them up.
  12. Not sure how much the HTAFC game affected us, maybe some casual sports fans may have chosen to stay in, keep warm and watch Town on TV rather than come out into the cold to watch Fartown? We've had 5,000 home supporters every game this season, so it's disappointing in that respect that we fell 1500 short. It could also be that it was our first evening game too and it may not be suitable kick off time for everyone. Lots of factors, but the club are doing some good things, which, given the weather, it's either been freezing, heavy rain, snowing or all 3 for all our games so far, hopefully that will pay off with warmer, longer nights.
  13. Less than 4,000 at Huddersfield tonight, disappointing but considering the weather and lack of away fans possibly just the season ticket holders tonight. Good job league tables aren't based on attendances though.
  14. Except Huddersfield, who were Huddersfield cricket and athletic club from their foundation in 1864.
  15. Yes but then people are allowing mitigating circumstances for it, yet Huddersfield aren't allowed those same circumstances. Anyway, the bigger picture is how do we get people to attend cup games? Super league fans and fans of the so called elite clubs have seemingly rendered the cup as not worth bothering with, how does the sport fix that?
  16. No chip on my shoulder pal. But is it not true that Huddersfield would get slaughtered for attracting a crowd as low as that?
  17. Barrow are doing well- Barrow fans and people in Barrow turn out to support their side. Warrington aren't doing well- Warrington fans and people of Warrington don't want to know if they're not winning.??
  18. If that was Huddersfield they would be absolutely slaughtered for that.
  19. It's the only ground where some of the employees/stewards feel the need to apologise for doing their job, some of them clearly don't want to have to be so excessive but as Daz said it's a really unwelcoming environment.
  20. Happy, smiley, stasi officers keeping a very beedy eye on those horrible, unwelcome away fans
  21. It's all relative though? As someone has pointed out, It's like comparing an English Premier league clubs' crowds with that of a Welsh Premier league club. What's the point?
  22. Call it a season ticket then, most people know what that is
