  1. Its what you call embarrassing and unsustainable and both Hornets and the football club leadership remain silent on the matter.
  2. I think we all knew we would be in for ‘interesting times’ when mr mazey took over. More information comes out of the Kremlin than from his office.
  3. My correction was meant to be to my earlier e mail…..not yours sheddings. And you are right, its 920 not 930. I need to get one of those computer thingies. Once we get lectric installed Ill be down the corner shop getting one.
  4. Correction……just announced on website ….930 capacity including hospitality suites. Diabolical….no information on the reason for this. Continue to be kept in the dark. I suppose we should expect that….the leadership has a track record of not paying much attention to supporters.
  5. Given there is no mention of it on the website (unlike previous games were fans were told to buy early because of the restriction) It appears there is no cap. It would be helpful for the club to make this clear but we dont get much out of the club these days.
  6. according to Hornets website you can pay on the day at the club office You will need have new money…they no longer accept shillings and pence They do encourage ticket purchase on line but for that you will need to have one of those computer things. I think they have them in Royton.
  7. March 2017 1087 at San Spotland…..come on you yeds…..you can do your bit to make sure we beat that. Morning cruise on the Canal, rag pudding ay willbutts chippy, pint or two in the Cemetry then you wont worry about the final score. Safe travels!
  8. Form goes out of the widow when the titans clash at Spotland - your lot will be up for it no doubt, but expect to face stronger opposition this weekend. Enjoy the attractions of Rochdale.
  9. Congratulations on a well earned win against the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker. Meanwhile Hornets prepare for the clash of the Titans with an outstanding performance in the rounds top matchup against Hunslet. All looking good for a belter on Friday. Come in your thousands but be prepared to go back t’other side of Royton with nothing but memories. Its been a long wait since the last time.
  10. From a different perspective, I was at Tugun Seahawks v Southport Tigers in the Gold Coast League, 20-6 to the visitors in pouring rain. Southport was where Israel Folau played last season while trying to get a gig in NRL before absconding to Japan RU. He has two family members in the Southport team. Tugun’s ground is literally the end of the runway at Gold Coast airport with large planes landing and taking off every few minutes so makes for a noisy game. $5 admission includes teamsheet for all three grades. Its an open field with a nice leagues club in one corner and a small hill on the opposite side with a beer hut for those not wanting to frequent the club. Clint Barends is coach at Tugun. I believe he may have played at Barrow at one point.
  11. 8 April 1922 Hornets 23 Widnes 3 A wonderful day at Weaste for the Northern Union Cup Semi Final Que Sera Sera Whatever will be, will be We’re going to Head-ing-ley Que Sera Sera
  12. Sad reflection on our game when folks are put off by 18quid admission price for QF of our world famous Cup competition. Problem is once teams do discounted prices for the cup it becomes expected/the norm. We are now in a downward spiral for cup prices . . . well done RFL.
  13. Not clear….when RFL sold the shares back to RFC some commitment was made to allow hornets to continue playing at spotland. Not sure the precise details ( in particular the term of the agreement) is public knowledge. But inevitably as sole owners RFC would ultimately have the power to pull the rug from under hornets, particularly should hornets ever struggle to pay whatever rent is due.
  14. Agreed, Ive gone beyond hoping for it to end well, end would be good enough for me (but preferably at a time when Paul Green no longer on the market…frying pan and fire come to mind). Cant believe that after the last three years they still havent sorted the splne out leaving quality players in the rest of the squad looking (and going) elsewhere. Haas probably the next to ship out. Issako the most recent, makes his debut forTitans on Thursday.
  15. No, they used to be partners in the stadium company but the old regieme collapsed in a mountain of debt the rugby league took over that share of ownership. The cooperative ownership the was formed and at some point Rochdale FC bought the share to take full ownership. Mazey and colleagues took over from the co op two years ago maybe so back in private ownership. They have been tenants for 4 or 5 years now.
  16. Quite something that for Millom…given the game wasnt started until 1895. Just wondering who they played rugby league against in 1873.
  17. 920 owing to some dispute with the owners of the ground Rochdale FC. Mazey has referred to it as ‘dirty washing’ which he doesnt want aired in public. So the details remain confidential. It involves more than the crowd restriction, which seems to be the result of limiting fans to one section of the main stand. It also involves use of stadium facilities like the car park and electronic scoreboard (although I believe the scoreboard might have been in use at Sundays game) The crowd restriction obviously deters walk ups as they dont know if there will be seats available at kick off time. Hornets had success in bringing fans back last season with three of eight home games getting attendances over 1000, although this was partly due to the distribution of free tickets to local amateur clubs. The corresponding game v north wales had over 1300 fans. This needs resolving urgently.
  18. TV pictures wont give you sight of entire stadium. Top deck at one end closed. Lots of space in second tier and ground level (called the 300 level for some reason - they must have underground bunkers!) far from overflowing. I was a bit surprised it was a high as announced. That attendance wont last if they continue to play background music throughout the game as they did yesterday - even when kickers were taking attempt at goal. I watched the NRLW game followed by the NRL game - thats 4 hours of the constant background music (if you can call it that).
  19. Yes 42km from Bris Vegas to redcliffe, and 84kms to Robina (Titans home). They are concerned Brissie folks won’t be interested in paying to watch a team named Redcliffe. The marketing folks run the game remember.
  20. Indeed, on that basis if warsaw ever get a team in superleague their game with wigan will be a derby!
  21. embarrassing display by Broncos……as we have got used to over the last two seasons. He called on the cavalry, ‘our billy’, and it just got worse. Congrats to cowboys, a competent performance by a team with a plan and solid coaching. We can only wish for the same at Suncorp. Do miracles happen in rugby league?
  22. Games I go to (Valleys and wests in Brisbane, Tugun, Currumbin runaway bay in GC are on par with league 2. They charge $5 admission in GCL (reductions for concessions) but free at BRL so no way of counting. There is a great DVD of the rebirth of valleys you can find on the Valleys website.
  23. It was, sort off, and the records of the old BRL are now part of the QRL. A new BRL was started for local teams including those not included in QRL (west’s and valleys) Brothers are not part of it, sadly, though they still run a juniors programme which seems to be thriving. Wynnum Manly have a ‘reserve’ team in the BRL with their first XIII in the QRL. Valleys beat Wynnum to win the championship last season. Scott Prince played for Valleys in the BRL two seasons ago in his forties. You can find details on the Play Rugby League website and clicking on competitions and the SE Queensland. It’s the same level as the Gold Coast league which includes Southport who Falou played for before moving to Japan RU. There is a fantastic book available about the history of the BRL before it’s transformation to the QRL. Some great names in there. Would recommend going to a game to anyone in SEQ.
