Rugby League World Cup 2021 (Merged Threads)

NRL isn't just Australia, I know. How dependent is NRL on imports and players of non-Aus heritage? Gus is 50 years out of date and appears to be defending the Australian and NZ bottlers. -

The sad thing is that this default by Australia and its dependency NZ has denied a number of players the chance evet to represent their country in the World Cup. They may be too old next time, not in form, and more likely, Aus and its slave state my not get another invite. Don't take it out on these players, take it out on Strop Vlandis and Co. -

I don't think Pearson realises that if the world cup does not take place this year, it's unlikely to take place next year either. Aus just does not want it. -

The declared number and rate of infections depends on a number of factors, a key one in my view is the number and type of test and the percentage of those tests that are reported as positive as well as the honesty in reporting self tests and the demographics of country, demographics of admissions, geolocation. Add in hospital admissions, duration of stay, deaths, ICU case etc and you have a very complex set of figures that render comparisons difficult. -

They already put pressure on New Zealand to welch, so if they can do it to a whole country, no matter how enslaved they are to Australia, the can do it to individual players. I'm really coming to the conclusion the only was to go ahead is to include Aus and NZ in the fixture list, then mark them as forfeit and award the result to their opponents -

Just saying something does not make it true. Player welfare isn't something that has been at the top of the sports agenda in Aus. -

If Australia really want the World Cup to go ahead next year, they could prove their "integrity" by placing a $10 million bond with the organisers today. -

That's the insularity that is so often mentioned in here. The forces of darkness that is Rugby union will capitalise on this, to our codes disadvantage. -

Re vaccination. Low level of take up because Aussies are scared it might turn them into Strop replicas. I have news for them. Its too late... that happened years ago. -

A clearly very angry Claire Balding live on BBC 1 Breakfast TV this morning. She says it's incomprehensible. She says if the All Blacks and Wallabys can come here this autumn, why not kangaroos and NZ. -

Should we not feel sympathy towards a young girl suffering breathing difficulties?
-
No "maybe" about it. In any case, there's room for compassion for more than one sector at one time- except of course for the national media.

You forgot to add that she's a Grammar School girl, too.

Shame for Raducanu. She's been built up beyond all reason. Heroine worship. What's not to like for the Wimbledon groupies? She's young, good looking, speaks well and is a really promising talent. The pressure on her, the expectation, must have been immense.

There's an opportunity here. Get Inverdale to front the UK coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest.

I may be wrong (don't say it. ) but I think Wane might know stuff about this that we don't. To what extent should he explain his reasoning on this or anything else, to us, the fans? The feeling that Farnworth should be in the squad seems to be really irritating some posters more than seems normal. Yes he's stubborn and will stick to his informed decisions. Why wouldn't he? Personally think that Wayne's strategy and his ability to get his squad to play to that is as important, if not more important than the choice of an individual and marginal player
