  1. One of the leading architects of the Northern Irish peace process, John Hume. A genuine colossus of a politician.
  2. Liverpool win Premier League Been a long time coming.
  3. Thank you for supplying the name. Indeed a sad loss. RIP
  4. Very sad to report one of our own.... I can't for the life of me remember his TRL handle right now, sorry.
  5. Isn't it? I still get goose bumps whenever I play it even after all these (42!) years.
  6. Wasn't Another girl.... another planet by The Only Ones? But yes, absolutely one of the best ever guitar intros of all time.
  7. It's not the band that I was talking about, it was myself and my fellow audience members! JJB us pushing 70 but still looks like he could manage 80 minutes of rugby league.
  8. So did I. They've still got it. Which is probably more than you can say about hundreds of bald, fat, middle aged blokes who still think they can pogo through an entire set but are wheezing and gasping for air before the first song is half way through! ?
  9. Woke this morning to the news. Not often that I'm affected by the passing of "famous" people not having actually met them, but this one has got to me. I was a big fan and The Stranglers really did provided the soundtrack to my youth. Dave's keyboard playing was the heart of The Stranglers sound. Truly gutted. ?
  10. Thanks for the advice, but I already do that. I have a wide selection of subscriptions and could already spend more time on there than is probably healthy! Having Smart TV along with the facility to cast to it from PC or mobile phone probably doesn't help.
  11. Thanks for that. Just had a quick look, there's some cracking games on there. Long may this lockdown continue while I get through them all! ?
  12. One of those famous people for who you feel a genuine sense of loss at their passing. My heart just sank when I just saw this on Twitter.
  13. They have just shown The Titfield Thunderbolt, The Lavender Hill Mob and The Lady Killers three afternoons in succession. Comedy doesn't come much better than that. Away from comedy they are showing the entire run of Spooks on iPlayer
  14. Ron Girvin, another or our own. For a long time he was a major figure in the organisation of amature rugby leage in the north west.
  15. One of our own: Pilkington Recs legend "Jethro" Geoff Philips I was fortunate enough to play under his stewardship of the Pilks 'A' team in the 1980s. A true rugby league character; very well know and well loved in the rugby league community of the north west. RIP big fella.
  16. It seems particularly cruel when someone possessed with such intelligence and wit succumbs to dementia. So sad. ?
  17. Liverpool are now champions of the world.
  18. 59 is no age, only a couple of years older than me! He was the first TV chef to really catch my eye. I loved the fact that he championed British cuisine. I have a couple of his books, they are really very good; far better than some of his rivals.
  19. When I was in my teens I often traveled by steam roller, crewing on it taking it to and from shows. It would take two days to cover around 50 miles.
  20. I've never had any proper boxing training; done a bit of sparing with a mate who was a half decent boxer. Now do some bag work as part of the strength and conditioning class I go to and quite enjoy it and don't find it too technically difficult. Mind you, you sometimes needed to be good with your hands when I began playing amateur rugby league in the lower reaches of the North West Counties league back in the very early 80s!
