  1. 'The Detectorists' has had a second series commissioned.
  2. I Googled that, and one of the first results was on a forum thread entitled 'Tramp Drinks'.
  3. I bought a bottle of Ardmore the other day. A pleasant Highland malt with a slight hint of peat. Nothing spectacular, but very pleasant and keenly priced.
  4. James Randi does seem to shed a few supporters every now and then, when he abandons hard-nosed enquiry and resorts to grandstanding and bluster, but on the whole, he's a good thing.
  5. Channel 9 should have won the latest photo competition, but Bernard Sutton said no.
  6. ABBC (Calexico & the Amor Belholm Duo) - Gilbert. Atmospheric.
  7. A woman from the audience of 'Question Time' - can anyone account for the movements of David Cameron on the day of filming this episode?
  8. Have they prepared effigies of the Sutton brothers to burn?
  9. Jackie Leven's old band, Doll by Doll.
  10. Well, it's a downbeat thing, not a red-nosed, trouser-dropping slapstick.
  11. I missed episode 2 and have switched over a bit late for a couple of others, but what I've seen has been very good.
  12. From the 'Hermit of Mink Hollow' album.
  13. Er, shurely shome mishtake?
  14. Last in the series, but repeated tonight at 10;40pm. Not the best programme of the series, but still fun.
  15. Try sitting at home, feeling calm with no aeroplane background noise, a glass of something good in one hand and 'Minimum/Maximum' playing through some decent kit at high volume. Immersive.
  16. You have to be in the right mood, like all music. I don't always want to listen to my Kraftwerk albums, but when it's the right time, it's just right.
  17. Just been told this, which seems to fit the bill: The "Gorilla" album by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band was produced by Gerry Bron, brother of Eleanor.
  18. A newcomer to Twitter that's quite fun: https://twitter.com/UnlikelyNRLnews
  19. I blame Nigel Wood. it's a joke, a farce etc.
  20. It must be Saturday evening; Leeds United have sacked another manager.
  21. Jack had been in poor health for a while. It was apparently one of the reasons for the Cream reunion a few years ago, as he knew he didn't have many opportunities left. 'Songs for a Tailor' contains the song Never tell your Mother she's out of Tune, which is as good a bit of advice as you'll ever get from a rock star.
  22. Saying goodbye to Jack Bruce with this album:
