  1. I was going to watch it but then one of my kids managed to delete the series from the Sky box. I'm quite relieved now. Seems a bit overdone.
  2. That was a joke on Outnumbered.
  3. Decent game in the end. Eastbourne United AFC winning 2-1. Only two red cards this time.
  4. Hull City v Sheffield United? That's a proper semi final. Shame it's at Wembley.
  5. If you ask nicely you might get an extra sausage.
  6. If any of you are in the Greater Eastbourne area this Saturday get yourselves over to Eastbourne United AFC for their FA Vase Quarter Final tie against Ampthill Town. The visitors have been scoring goals for fun in the Spartan South Midlands and Eastbourne have won their last two matches 6-1 so this will almost certainly be 0-0. However, it's a fiver for grown ups, three quid for JohnM and free for anyone under 16 (Hindle?). The buffet does nice hot dogs.
  7. Speaking of: Blue Jam is currently being repeated on R4E.
  8. Indeed. They got in a couple of years ago and have had U19/U21 fixtures until their first senior qualifying tournament. They are in Scotland's group for Euro 2016 qualifying.
  9. That explains the quality of the coach I saw then.
  10. Meanwhile, down in Steps 9 and 10 on the pyramid, Morpeth Town travelled all the way to Eastbourne United AFC (Eastbourne's third team, it appears) for the FA Vase fifth round. It did not end well. Within a minute they were down to ten men, by the end they were down to 8 and on the wrong end of a 6-1 scoreline. Eastbourne trouser £2.5k for winning, Morpeth get half the gate receipts and a big fuel bill. Also notable for it being Tiny Ginger's first soccer match (not first sport, that was Hemel v Oldham last year) and he took a photo just as the game was kicking off:
  11. We've covered Moby Dick on here before (my, aren't we the cultured ones?). I 'did' it via an audiobook off audible and can recommend it. I've found audiobooks to be either absolutely brilliant or absolutely woeful and so much of it depends on the narrator. The one I 'read' was narrated by Frank Muller and it was, as far as I was concerned, pretty much note perfect. There are a lot of digressions and it doesn't progress in anything like a normal way but taken as a whole I think it's very much worth doing. Very enjoyable.
  12. It's absolutely batcack crazy. Read Frankenstein if you haven't already.
  13. Derek Jeter is retiring. Jeter is a baseball player so you may not have heard of him. However for twenty years he has been both annoyingly successful, consistently (mostly) brilliant and ... damn lucky with the ladies. He also got to be funny on Seinfeld.
  14. Yes. Just saw the link and was expecting the worst. He is wrong though. The spread on Michael Sam was already 3rd to 8th round, not 3rd to 5th.
  15. It is league positions apparently. The jeopardy-loving RFL don't want to cock up their plans by relying on play-offs to determine this bit of the structure.
  16. I think we can all agree that the team that gets through the most jeopardy deserves the big payments.
  17. I'd expect the champion share to go to the champions. We're all about jeopardy now. That's how it should be.
  18. Any good? I'm going to iPlayer it.
  19. "Sally Bercow adjusting the knobs of three men in a London Bridge toilet"? Bit niche.
  20. 31 My eyes are doing a victory dance.
  21. Go to the toilets at your local station. Bound to be something happening there.
  22. Are we at cross-purposes? I thought you were discussing how the teams would be ranked for distribution at the start of the 2015 season. That's based on finishing positions (including relegation) in 2014.
