  1. Warrington, Batley, York, all L1 clubs managed to and I think that someone's posted that York have problems with the stadium management about this. Be interesting to know what Wire pulled in given that it was a dismal weekend for SL attendances.
  2. I'm thinking here of the Danny Ward side, just as an example - I agree that the history of London is possibly the longest train crash in modern sporting history, mostly brought on by the conduct of its owners.
  3. Although it was a terrible display by the Cru, I suspect that even at our best Keighley would have won, albeit by a much smaller margin. Very impressed by the way they worked together, I reckon that all that's needed there is a couple of big forwards and the Championship will hold no fears. My highlights? A tasty sausage, bacon and egg bap and a very nice 70th. birthday card.
  4. The problem with franchising last time was that it wasn't perceived as an open and fair process, if it had been we'd probably still have it. After all, if (say) London had had three years to sort themselves out we'd still have a SL side in the Capital.
  5. Cornwall, Hunslet, Midlands, Oldham. Haven't a clue about us and Keighley, maybe a draw?
  6. As far as the attendance is concerned, I'd question whether it would have been much higher if we'd played at Wembley, somewhere along the line the Cup's lost its magic. Back in the eighties with Fulham we had a Friday night do in a pub with a load of Whitehaven supporters followed by our annual Cup Final evening bash at the now long gone Clarendon in Hammersmith the highlight being after the '85 final with several of the UK based Aussies there. Highlight was the ice cube fight between Harold Henney (older members here would remember him) and Mal Meninga. The bar staff pondered intervening, looked at the size of the protagonists and decided that they had other things to do!
  7. Great game, good advert for RL. Don't know what it was like to be there, but for me, on TV the ground came over better than Wembley - even when it's full for soccer internationals.
