  1. Keep it simple, derby matches and give the Crusaders a glam fixture (Wire perhaps?).
  2. I would have Ben Jones-Bishop over Webb at full back, he is one for the future and Webb is past his best. Not sure about Watkins yet, he was a star in the making at first but seems to have lost his way.
  3. Didn't know the specials were still going strong in the 90's! (APART FROM WEMBLEY!!!) I have a better story. Back in the early 80's Wire were in a Lancashire Cup final at Swinton and I was a kid on a Special Train and on the way back because of all the shouting, urinating and throwing stuff out of the train the driver decided to divert the train to Wigan and throw all the Wire fans off! The Police were waiting at Wigan station and hurded us all off and we ended up walking back home along the M6 hard shoulder all the way back to Wazza!! Them was the days!
  4. Like the shot of Richie Mathers getting crunched!
  5. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_leag...eds/8927277.stm Leeds Rhinos winger Scott Donald will retire at the end of the season and return to his native Australia to pursue a career outside of rugby. Seems like at 30 he is still a bit young to hang his boots up. Lets hope Leeds go for youth and not another aussie replacement.
  6. I have booked on to a Special Train called 'The Wire Flyer' for the Wire's visit to Wembley, it leaves at 9am and gets to Wembley at 12.15 so means I get a lie in. My main worry is the quality of the train!!? Having not been on a RL Special since the 80's when these trains were complete wrecks with fans urinating and drinking on them I am not holding my breath for anything special! Anyone been on a RL Special Train?
  7. This may mean we get close to capacity and is a good idea to boost the event and make it a real RL gathering. But I fear the RFL will want to make money out of it and they will offer halkf price discounts to season ticket holders anyway. The main obstacle for most is getting to Cardiff and also finding reasonablely priced accomodation.
  8. EDITED BY CKN: Please don't post entire articles. The Times is now behind a paywall, if that means we can't read their articles then so be it. If the article is outside of the paywall then link it.
  9. Maybe, but usually players big up their own team mates, I admire Mozza for being honest and fair here. You could argue that the best players at Wire are the imports King, Monaghan and Solomona who are making the English better than what they are.
  10. Actually your pisstake shows that Wire could put out a fairly decent all England team, well done!!
  11. No sadly these are gonna be replaced by the Melbourne trio of Finch, Lima and Hoffman.
  12. I think Brian Mac has done a decent job at London but he obviously has set his sights higher. He could well be the next England coach if things go as badly as I feel they will down under and over the next few years. As for Quins they need to get someone in who can work on limited resources. But sadly for them I feel Kevin Walters the failed Catalans coach will end up there.
  13. Apologies, missed the Aussie wonder boy out!! Westwood drops to bench, Tomkins misses out. 1. Tomkins 2. Hall 3. Shenton 4. Briscoe (Bridge if fit) 5. Fox 6. McGuire 7. Eastmond 8. Morley (Cpt) 9. Sinfield 10. Graham 11. Ellis 12. Burgess 13. S O'Loughlin 14. Roby 15. Crabtree 16. JWestwood 17. Widdop
  14. Heres my team 1. Tomkins 2. Hall 3. Shenton 4. Briscoe (Bridge if fit) 5. Fox 6. McGuire 7. Eastmond 8. Morley (Cpt) 9. Sinfield 10. Graham 11. Ellis 12. Westwood 13. S O'Loughlin 14. Roby 15. Crabtree 16. J Tomkins 17. Widdop
  15. Salford City Reds are believed to have negotiated the double-signing of two high-profile Wigan stars. Reds are favourites to land Kiwi prop Feka Paleaasina and another top overseas star
  16. Thomas has been great since he came across. I think he was expected to have a rough ride after that first tackle which nearly crippled him but he has shown that he is a good tryer and can learn quick.
  17. Thats not RL clubs fault though. That fault lies with the Tories for putting them on the dole. RL is still a great value for money sport and compared to roundball we are cheap as chips.
  18. Wires have gone up but they put some kind of spin on it like you are saving two extra games! But I guess thats the price to pay for glamour and success.
  19. Not a lot of chance, but on any given day a lesser side like Huddersfield can shock someone like Wigan. Its a big ask though to win 4 high intense games on the bounce.
  20. Engage Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that following investigations and specialist review England captain Jamie Peacock will require a ligament reconstruction of his knee and will miss the rest of this season. http://www.therhinos.co.uk/news/14721.php Bad luck for Peacock, he deserves to play at Wembley but goes to show how unlucky some top class players are in never making it to the hallowed turf. Also a bit of a blow for England. I know we have great depth in the pack but Peacock has always shone at Test level and would have been skipper too.
