  1. Thanks for that overview. When reading it I thought that Salford could turn this situation around in their favour. From a situation where they are currently not getting any matchday revenue to one where they can get sales from drinks, corporate etc and a stadium which is very compact. Yes, the stadium does need work but I would imagine that Salford will be trying to negotiate for development that should include increased capacity to 7,000, pitch size modifications and increase by removing a few of the front rows from the stands, corporate and changing room facilities. Who knows, could SRD ask for some of these costs be skimmed off from the purchasing price from Sale and the soccer club? I don't see this as a step backwards but an opportunity to get more revenue from a number of new sources they don't currently have, better match day atmosphere, better transport into the stadium and perhaps an opportunity in the long term to own the stadium.
  2. As I understand it all involved parties are in discussions
  3. I do think that when you weigh things up a smaller, but compact Moor Lane is better than an atmosphereless AJ Bell. In the short term, Moor Lane probably just needs one or two of the stands being developed with some corporate facilities and an increase in capacity to around 7000
  4. Just had a look. I think it looks ok, good atmosphere as you mentioned. It does look quite small for what we would like a SL stadium to be, so perhaps one or two of the stands can be extended a bit as a mid to long term objective.
  5. No I couldn't see any corporate facilities at Moor Lane but perhaps that can be developed over time?
  6. Read somewhere recently and there's some talk flying around that the soccer club Salford FC could jointly buy the AJ Bell stadium with Sale Sharks and the council could buy the soccer ground Moor Lane for Salford RL to play in. I'd be interested to know what Salford fans think. Although Moor Lane is much smaller I think it has a much better atmosphere, similar to their historic ground.
  7. Ok yep I remember now they no longer play in Sheffield but are still operational. Apologies. Is Chesterfield a long term relationship or are they just waiting for the stadium to be built and then they'll move back?
  8. Will Sheffield Eagles be the only tenant then? Last I heard the Sheffield United ladies team who were supposed to be the key tenant were no longer operational. Is that still the case?
  9. Any idea when this stadium will finish? Seems to have gone on forever
  10. I'll give that a listen thanks. The fact that they have their own ground and based in a major UK city is a big plus.
  11. Do you think this initiative is going to produce players for France's national team?
  12. People use the Sheffield- London game as an example of how competitive the new system can be, and yet Sheffield themselves openly confess that they would struggle to maintain a full time operation in the new structure and they are one of the strongest teams in the Championship.......doesn't bode well.
  13. Watched Super League Back Chat and there isn't a week that goes by where Rod Studd isn't pushing P & R, and irritatingly shouts down anyone that dares disagree with him. Is there a chance we could get a journalist on this show that actually knows what the hell they are talking about? I would also appreciate it if they stopped saying that all of the fans want it back because that isn't the case. I know just as many who are against that are for. Memo to Rod Studd and the other so called journalists on BackChat: Promotion & Relegation is a british sporting tradition, but so is losing. Why can't we just stick to one thing for a few years without chopping and changing?
  14. Whether you are for or against p and r, everyone should acknowledge the main flaw in the proposals is that it doesnt address the main issues currently faced at SL level, that being lack of sponsorship and investment, someone show me the connection of how this poxy idea will bring monies into the game, if anything it pushes away investment.
  15. The game in this country is currently run by people who have no vision, flair or commercial savvy whatsoever, these are the same people who voted in the Stobart lorry deal, which involved no monies to SL clubs. At the top of the tree sits Nigel Wood, a man who whilst CEO at Halifax proposed a concept where a team could win league table points for each half of a game, luckily that was laughed out of town, unfortunately we weren't as lucky this time.
  16. We need another Richard Lewis, someone who has no prior investment within RL to take a more objective approach.
