https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/67452865 Never saw anything like this penned by Woods or anybody about James Roby or Sam Tompkins.

Lovely in depth article about James Roby on the BBC website, one of the best servents to the game ever. Dave describes the man and his career so beautifully and lets the wider sporting community know all about James Roby and his amazing achievements
-
Maybe not but I'm sick of the BBC thread , maybe Dave should shoulder some of the blame as he is their correspondent
-
I certainly know they won't click on anything if they don't know about it
-
They don't have the rights for many things but that does not stop them publishing articles, we have a long history of not promoting ourselves and this just feels like another example to me. People have not heard of us anymore because we do sod all to promote ourselves hence people say the sport is irrelevant and no articles are published
-
I'm putting 2 and 2 together and I'm sure I'm not far away ! If we don't tell people about our game who will ?
-
Maybe if we wrote about it and showed clips people would now something about a sports league they have never heard of ????
-
Thing is this is not the A league , this is our champions league / superbowl
-
So Josh Charnley laying a few bricks is worth a story and our games biggest game gets nothing ! If someone casually read about one of the greatest games of RL ever they might go look up the highlights but as a game we do so little to help ourselves. I'm sure the BBC could have put this on their page if anybody caused be arsed to write an article
-
Just wondering what Dave does ! There is no mention of the Aus Grand final on the BBC despite it been the games biggest game and spectacle of the season with some saying it was the best game ever! Would the superbowl be treated like this ? Why do we not promote ourselves better ?
-
You're right , they for some reason are happy to roll over smaller sides but not welcoming of new ideas and competition especially PB . Hopefully we can improve the Balkan super league but we need British and French teams to come here and boost the game as a whole
-
I understand your comments but how do we move forward? We have no cash or vision to make money that we can re invest back into the game . Its not so much a whip round but a community led action program that could have real benefits for the game and it may attract government support as well as other key stakeholders.

ECB has problems for sure but how many fans were there for the Ashes and that seems to have followed on with the hundrec ; its engaging new and old fans
-
This is part of the plan , new and old support is required

Just reading about the Challenge cup and the lack of a full house again and I was trying to think of the answer to our problems. What about the RFL engaging with us the fans about a detailed 5 year plan about the game on all levels ? Set out their vision of what we can achieve as a sport , cost it out ; and ask the fans of the game to help ! If we all chipped in a tenner a piece and maybe we got companies , national lottery and sport England to match our donations we could raise significant funds that will enable us to move forward rather than treading water ? As long as the money is ring fenced for development and not paying off a series of inept employees i would certainly be in ! Maybe an additional 10 pounds on an England member package would be the way ahead ? We are a small sport struggling for a foothold in todays sporting world and we need to look at avenues to raise funds , standards , participation as well as increasing our supporter base .

https://retailworldmagazine.com.au/cadbury-launches-new-campaign-to-support-local-sport/ I'm currently in Australia and i see Cadbury are running a sports promotion on their packaging , it appears that arguably the nations sport is not mentioned at all ! Whereas union is at the forefront. Surely this is about selling products and Cadbury seem to be ignoring league for some reason

We took a beating but we are very grateful to my old club Mirfield supplying 2 players along with another guy from North Wales ! They had a great time here in Montenegro

Last years world Cup financial breakdown
iangidds replied to iangidds's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Very vague, possibly a little bit! -
Do we know if the world Cup was profitable?
-
Thanks for putting that up, we have a bit of interest from a few people ; thanks
-
OK I appreciate that very much
-
Yes it is

Not if you have the skills required and you can do at least 40 minutes if you are a forward
