Hull FC offer Tex Hoy to other SL clubs…
daz39 replied to Old Frightful's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Right, i'm with you now, i thought you were saying it was a SL directive that all coaches had to be rather than a Government/Visa requirement. Either way it doesn't change my point about Tony being hunted by the big boys on the back of his work at Huddersfield. -

Maybe i am missing your point so apologies if i have misunderstood but from what i understand you were saying Tony only got the job at Huddersfield as it was a Super League directive that coaches had to be from overseas. I'm not sure if i missed a joke or something originally but i don't really get what your getting at. -

I never said he did, Gomersall said TS got the job at Huddersfield as it was a requirement that SL coaches had to be from overseas at the time, i pointed out that as TS had replaced Kear then this is clearly not true, not sure what exactly his point was to be honest. -

Is it just my memory being a bit hazy or is this just yet another overseas flop signed for FC to leave his contract early? i seem to remember it happening a few times but i could be wrong. -

Eh how do you work that out? he replaced John Kear who definitely wasn't an ex NRL coach, i think you've just made that up. -

He got the Leeds gig on the back of the building he did at Huddersfield, took a team who finished bottom 4 years running and were a shambles, won promotion with an unbeaten season and put together a fine, tough squad and consolidated in Super League, Leeds saw him as the man to win them trophies instead of a big money/big name coach, they were right. His reputation was built from the team he built at Huddersfield! -
Anyone but Leeds for me but, i'm starting to mellow a bit as they've now become a home for players that were never quite good enough for a mediocre club like mine which i think is a lovely thing to do considering they could have carried on winning leagues and cups etc but forsake all that to give below average players a chance to still play Rugby League at a high level, bless the fat unicorns..... Nah forget that, still anyone but Leeds!!

Ad yet on other forums their fans are all saying it's TS fault, not the players, not the owner, not the culture, it's the fault of one of the finest coaches of the modern era why Hull FC continue to be such a porr club/team. Absolutely amazing to think all the players and coaches before Tony were so good and an asset to the club that they had no issues. Someone did make reference to something like 10 players who have failed under 4 coaches but they were quickly put in place and reminded that it's all TS's fault!!!!! What a weird club and fan base they're turning into. In our last 3 games we've put 50 plus points on them and i've even seen comments saying they should still be beating the likes of Huddersfield whoever they have playing for them and we are the epitome of mediocre, strange stuff in them waters across there.

Which is perfectly normal and acceptable, apparently.

Fenton Rogers suspended by the Giants
daz39 replied to daz39's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Huddersfield announced straight away they suspended their player pending an internal investigation, as its a police matter they would be limited what they can say in public, they have now announced that their internal investigation is over and the suspension is lifted, Leigh didn't even announce they were suspending or investigating their player instead made him a victim, put him straight in the match day squad and even (probably as a gimmick as he wasn't even that good in that match) awarded him player of the match too. Please don't compare the two clubs as there is and always will be a huge gulf in class between Ken Davy and Huddersfield Giants and Derek Beaumont and leigh leopards! -

No one knows what Huddersfield found in their internal investigation and if they have in fact punished him internally, what we do know is they have done something and have now lifted his ban to continue his career, he was getting into the 1st team squad so will see being demoted to play at Bradford as a punishment, hopefully. The fact they suspended him straight away suggests they weren't happy with him, they could have played him at London and awarded him the player of the match award though rather than suspending him!. -
Don't think we wil hit the 50 against them this time like we have last 2 times we've played them but i am expecting us to win. At some point something will click in their team and they will remember how to tackle and pass etc so hopefully it's not this week. I just hope we don't get too complacent knowing we beat them with ease a fortnight ago. Fartown by 14.

To be fair he hs a valid point, no need to take the P or be sarcastic like that. I think most people find it a bit strange that suddenly HKR have decided to go against the 'norm' for the sport and do something totally different, it's obviously going to be questioned, i'm pretty sure you would have thought 'eh, why?' in the beginning yourself. Whatever spiel they have put around it, it is not normal in RL terms.

He was suspended pending an internal investigation which has now been concluded, he's been sent on loan following the conclusion. -
https://www.giantsrl.com/article/8806/club-statement-|-fenton-rogers Good to see them suspending him immediately, right thing to do in my opinion, no matter how talented someone is it doesn't excuse bad behaviour and doing stuff like that. If he's found guilty i presume he will be sacked and rightly so for me. Silly boy!

As with every season, every fan will feel aggrieved at some point due to decisions made against one of their players, nothing we can do except get on with it and accept it.
