Neither of us (unlike some keyboard warriors apparently) are financial experts and access to information to able to judge the club's accounts is difficult. The club may well be near to its maximum level of credit that it can obtain. Simply borrowing more may not be an option. It is not really clear who the club owes money to and how much. The chairman may be a major creditor. The land will have been used to guarantee loans. One thing I think we agree on is that everyone should be paid the money that is owed to them. Not to do so is wrong. Some people are owed some money by Featherstone. That's embarrassing for the club and needs sorting. The reason for that is the club is now itself (for whatever reason that may be) short of money .

It hurt me grievously. But if there are still people who haven't moved on from 1995, that's problematic for them.

The launch of SL was a fiasco. But it was 29 years ago.

I'm definitely not pointing fingers. Plenty other people queuing up to do that. I know nothing of the internal workings of the club. Very few people do. According to the publicly available lists, the biggest shareholder of the club would surprise you given your previous comment. All clubs have loans and debts. All clubs.

If you check the list of shareholders and their holdings, many people would be very surprised to find out who really "owns" what %age of Featherstone Rovers shares. Another thing entirely is who is running the club on a daily basis and taking all the decisions.

So, here we are then. After two pre-season friendlies, two 1895 Cup matches and three Challenge Cup ties, the league season is finally upon us. Only for a week as we'll go back to the Cup the week after. The rest of March now looks pretty tough with the always difficult trip to Batley followed by SL opposition away and then Wakey again. We seem to have a squad of about 27 players at the moment. Let's see who turns out at Batley. 17 Squad: Josh Hardcastle, Connor Jones, Gareth Gale, Brad Day, Gadwin Springer, Caleb Aekins, Thomas Lacans, Wellington Albert, Brad England, Greg Minikin, Danny Addy, Harry Bowes, Moris Kamano, Manoa Wacokecoke, Connor Wynne, Keenan Tomlinson and Paul Turner 1 DR: Zach Fishwick 3 Fringe: Connor Moore, Oliver Farrar, Charlie Harris 5 Injured: Jayden Tanner, Jack Bussey, McKenzie Yei, Nathan Massey, Jack Arnold 1 Suspended: Dean Roberts Hopefully Turner will be available after his arrival from Australia. Minikin's suspension is finished. Perhaps we can keep Fishwick on DR. Bussey is out for 2/3 weeks according to Ford. Maybe Tanner or Yei will be ready to play? We haven't seen Moore in action yet.

With injuries and suspensions, we're short on numbers this week, hence the DR signing even though it's the Challenge Cup and I think that means Fishwick will be Cup-tied for Hull KR. Of the 20 named, Harris and Farrar are outside backs so I'm not sure if there's a place for eithre of them. Albert is straight off the plane, but if he's fit, he's fit. With most of the absent players props I think we are going to have to ask Bussey to play in the middle. My team would be: Aekins Waco-Hardo-Wynne-GG Bowes-Lacans Springer-Jones-Kamano Day-England Addy. Bench: Bussey-Albert-Fishwick-Moore/Tomlinson

Squad updated in the OP. I've included Connor Moore who I assume has joined the club. No number yet for Turner or Moore....... -

Recondite info. [applauds] -
A blank weekend for us coming up with the 1895 Quarter-finals on. Then Wakey at home for a spot in the last 16 of the Challenge Cup. Believe it or not, we haven't played them in an official match since September 1998, but that game has been deleted from my memory. I'm sure we're all looking forward to this one. In terms of the squad: Plus points: Bussey is back, Tanner is here. Negative points: Minikin and Roberts still suspended. Yei and Arnold injured. Massey too. Albert not here yet. Probably no DR or loans because it's a Cup tie. We'll still have about 20 players to select from. Live on The Sportsman website too.
