  1. we've got two one in otley, one in meanwoodd. we live half way between them.
  2. waitrose is a great place to shop. their chunky fish fingers are to die for. i love the cafe and you get a free newspaper if you spend over a fiver.our waitress and aldi are a couple of hundred yards from each other. you can't go wrong.
  3. Concorde flew over our house a few times when it flew from Leeds Bradford airport. Breathtaking. I do like the double deckers. They have a certain presence. Maybe it was a clear statement of nationality because nobody else bought it!
  4. That principle can also apply to things worth having, that weren't white elephants. Concorde is not alone amongst aviation masterpieces that were incongruous: the spruce goose for instance, or my own particular favourite the Bristol Brabazon.
  5. The idea of environmentally friendly war has a certain irony. Maybe they could have just built a Concorde shaped sculpture for us to appreciate the beauty of.
  6. I think I might have seen it before, but I'll probably check it out. It's an interesting piece of history.
  7. Concorde was an environmental nightmare. Boring old economic practicality, who needs it. One of the main protagonists of Concorde was Tony Benn. Minister of technology at the time. It was pure coincidence that his constituency at the time had the makers of Concorde as its main employer. One would have thought he would have been against something so elitist wouldn't one.
  8. I used to walk past Glasgow college of art on my way to work. One of the greats
  9. Sarah Parish's performance in last night's W1A was probably her masterpiece. Fantastic stuff.
  10. I don't even bother with the vinegar mint and pepper. I really can't explain my devotion to tinned processed peas, but I can sit and eat a tin of them in a bowl and really enjoy them
  11. That's hull v Leeds on the back burner. Bloody hell fire.
  12. To be honest I was a barchester freak when I lived up there, with the odd foray into lanliq. Buckfast tasted a bit too metallic for my palate.
  13. I've seen that before and avoided it because it said California on the label. How about that for prejudice.
  14. Keeping it simple this evening Nicely seasoned chicken in white wine With mushrooms using the juices and creme fraiche in a reduction, And some baby new potatoes. And to drink? Don't know yet, but the rest of the white wine with the food And I'll be watching the match, and I know this is seriously uncool, with a bottle of yellow tail malbec, shared with our Martin if he shows up. I enjoy yellow tail wine, there I've said it. I'm sure there is a support group somewhere.
  15. I adore it. Nothing better than a beetroot sandwich on thick white bread with loads of butter. It's nice roasted. I've eaten it but never cooked it.
  16. Sorry mate. I remember this song from years ago by the Shangri las. I forgot about it until a few years ago when it cropped up on a give away CD that came with a magazine, I'd heard Neko Case before and it was a nice surprise. I thought the Shangri las were great. They were edgier than most mid sixties girl groups.

  18. Here's something I find a little bit special. After breakfast I tend to wander into the kitchen and look in the pan. I don't know why but there are always one or two bits of extra crozzled bacon residing there. I always pop them in and munch on them whilst out with the dogs. For some reason they taste better than the bacon that you'd eaten a few minutes before.
