  1. Quite significant no comment from SL on this story. Other sports would get a press release out forthwith. As it is RL seems to function on rumours and hearsay, not just on this, but pretty much everything. We, the punters, have no idea whether this story is 1) Completely made up. 2) Has some basis, but overstated. 3) Entirely true. As a result, people make up their minds based on their own preset ideas. And blame TWP/SL. Take your pick.
  2. Yep. See also the extra 2 teams added to the Championship this season at the very last minute. Didnt that happen around this Time of year?
  3. Simple premise. Who has over/underachieved the most in each division? Here's mine. SL Over London. Even if they go down. Possibly Salford too. Under Leeds obvs. Possibly Wakey, Hudds, HKR if they go down. Champs. Over York. Shout to Swinton and Leigh given were they were at. Under Fax? Barrow? L1 Over Whitehaven, great effort. WWR? They won a game? Under? Donny, Newcastle? Never looked like winning the league? What do folks think?
  4. We won't have to be if we meet the Stains on Saturday's form! Bottle less gets ?
  5. Wow! I hadn't realised it was 93 since a Stanley Cup!! I lived there in the Gretzsky/Oilers dynasty.
  6. Upset win. Brooklyn 12 Jacksonville 6.
  7. Onwards and upwards then. Best of luck, you, and others, are doing a belting job. Best of luck!
  8. Yes. And what makes it even more remarkable is the great Oldham side of the 50s and the Swinton one of the early sixties, double champions. It is not as though either club has been also rans for most of the times since either.
  9. That neither Oldham, nor Swinton have ever played a CC final at Wembley remains one of RLs strangest anomalies.
  10. Which raises an interesting other question. Which are the two most surprising teams never to have met in the final now that Saints will play Wire? Wigan v Huddersfield must be up there. Hull v Bradford?
  11. I believe they were 2 points behind 7th. That is top half!
  12. Both games 46-0 today. Toronto and Toulouse. With both looking like having home advantage, would be surprised if that wasn't the final now.
  13. Surprisingly enough, no one seems to know. Not like RL to leave such a crucial decision to the very last minute. ?
  14. Yes. Which would make prudent financial sense. The advantage they have, though, if someone else goes down, presumably they'd be looking to offload quite a few quickly. Broncos would probably be best placed to pick them up, being a long, long way below the cap. And some way below their wage bill for this year.
  15. London keep winning when they have to. They did so last year too. People forget they were written off for the top four with 3 to play last season. Look what happened...
  16. I would suggest that elasticity of demand is rather more complicated than even that. Different clubs will have different elasticities. The key starting questions are what is the maximum and what the minimum for each club's attendance? Given ideal form, opponents, weather, loads riding on it, Derby game, etc, etc. How many could they get? And for the worst case. How many diehards would be there after 15 straight defeats on a wet Thursday night with nowt riding on it against another team in poor form from miles away. The difference between the two is the elasticity of demand. Assuming they were priced the same. To measure the price elasticity you would need to repeat the same game under the same conditions with a range of different prices. Impossible. So trial and error is the only way. Basically, experiment with donation only and see what happens. As Swinton and others have done. But, unless you can repeat it, with identical variables, which you can't, you can't know for sure.
  17. BPA were of course originally an RL club. What goes around comes around.
  18. Sadly, this is social media. People think they have the right to spout any old ######. And that they have "freeze peach" to do so. Get them locked up. Wouldn't get away with it in person.
  19. So there is no football hooliganism in Russia then?https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/apr/24/russia-neo-nazi-football-hooligans-world-cup
  20. Article in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/aug/10/hooliganism-threat-rugby-league Seems no one is denying some Wire fans have been out of order again.
