  1. When you say early promise I assume you mean the initial crowd numbers? I said at the start of the year that by 6 winless home games in we will be way under 1000 home fans a game again....probably nearer 500 I know I won't be going again this year....rather watch Skolars in the Southern league and see a relatively competitive game. Plus I'll pick some choice northern games to go see The only close-ish games we can even think of envisaging would be if teams do a 'Saints' and send down a youth squad because they fancy a bye and don't need the points Again....anyone who sees any of this as any kind of surprise is deluded or at the very best was badly informed
  2. I think we should just abdicate the SL place and join the championship now (seriously)...we would have some great competitive fixtures with Bull, Widnes and Tolouse etc I wasn't the only one to predict this season was going to go this way....and will get worse
  3. If you end up with something like Wakey that will be decent I think People need to remember there were 9000 fans cheering on a sport tonight....in a tidier stadium that could easily be a lot more
  4. Ha....yes that horrible theme tune really resonates doesn't it
  5. Let's hope so My kids will sit and watch it as long as they have a burger and 10 minutes each half on their phone It helps we have a reward system....if their team wins they get a treat from the shop after...if not then there is fresh tap water readily available that they can have as much of as they want (within reason)
  6. Completely this .... I'd even say football has taken a hit in this too...along with boxing, darts and snooker Losing the commonality if everyone reading the same papers and watching the same channels has caused this We can look back on those days nostalgically but the lack of choice was pretty rubbish too .....e.g. I used to really look forward to Spitting image Sunday nights but after that there was never anything else on so I had to watch the South Bank Show....can't see those two audience demographics overlapping much these.days with so much more choice
  7. Agreed....darts, snooker and boxing are completely different beasts to a team sport
  8. Yep....looking at the starting 13 for Ireland in the WC I think that team could very competitive in a one off game it triseries ...shame it's bit built on
  9. Apart from this year it all looks pretty good then
  10. Am I right in thinking that now it's either Tri-Nations with Wales / France or we go down under each season ?
  11. Take your pick from the 2014 Broncos season Last week at Plough Lane was no picnic either
  12. Not sure about waster but he is way too bloody fat to be playing in an NRL back line
  13. From what I hear they still have huge amount of youth talent to choose from.....baffling that they can't put out a top team A root to branch change needed for the whole club maybe
  14. Ha....it's so good you are here referencing the 1940s George!...extraordinary we have that era in living memory. My wife's grandad is 100 in September (hopefully!) and he even makes you young! I wish schools still did CC final excursions....can't say I've noticed many school trips at them over the years (and I've been to many of them over my 40 something years)
  15. If you are happy with low/sloppy standards in a semi-pro sport then all good and you can continue the defense of it You are in the right sport for it anyway
  16. Not many lower income fans will make a Tolouse/Cats game....if they do they need some financial advice Internationals I am happy to concede are now worthless after all 3 games were badly turned out and up north (having seen the dismal turnout at 2 Tonga games in person I just think what is the point) The CC cup is the only big game fixed in the calendar for the south ....it's vital we keep it....move it to Spurs maybe but we keep it down here Magic I'm 50-50 as I enjoy it but would rather ditch that than the CC
  17. Professional sports teams put ticket information on their website mate ....most well run amateur teams do As I say ....Batley will have plenty of folk willing to volunteer to take that on I have no social media...if I try and go on Facebook it just says I have to register ....
  18. Disagree It was poorly attended last night due to the exact same teams playing the same fixture the week before....and the fact CC fixtures are not released long in advance Wembley has not had two big British teams in the final for a while A cynic might suggest Catalan being in the final in 2018 was a catalyst for lowering the bar for crowd number and atmosphere ...it was dismal though I enjoyed the result (I was there as a neutral and wouldn't go again if it ends up being like that so plenty of other casuals may have been put off recent years) It's recovering now ...I was there last year for the nearly 60,000 crowd and it was fantastic (that would be two thirds full not half) I'd confidently predict if the final this year involves two from Saints, Wigan, Wire, FC( ha ha obvs but you never know), KR....then it will be mid 60s plus
  19. Agreed.....I assumed everyone knew being a RL fan has nothing to do with gaining pleasure, contentment or happiness I'm in it for the hot takes, the rage and the constant anxiety
  20. It would take 15 minutes to stick it on the website....if there is genuinely no one with the time at the club surely there must be trusted club volunteers who can look after things like that Hope you get there and boo Cas!
  21. Just looked myself Utterly extraordinary ... They are playing a SL club at home and no mention nevermind fanfare
