  1. Completely ruined game. Reckon completion rate must have been close to 10% thanks to the ref. He was bad for both sides but hammered us. Whatever the “new” play the ball rule is - it is ****e.

    Fixtures

Nice to see the fixtures out and the Tolouse away game right in the middle of summer for the brave ones travelling. My first thought was whatever happened to home / away, home / away? Suspect Fergie will be happy with three home games to start mind....

I guess I started the discussion on cost Graham and I wasn't suggesting that we were charging too much in comparison to other RL clubs, just pondering that £200 wouldn't be attractive to the non committed (I will be buying one less this season for instance). Guess Im thinking of how we might get the half interested to come to more games. From what we read about Batley's attempts, courtesy of Sir Jekyll, it sounds like it doesn't make sense to offer cut price tickets anyhow...

Thats a fair point BSJ but RL is a different world and DRLFC is in a different world again. Leeds Utd season tickets start at £22 per game, £7 a game more than us but they have thousands of people on a waiting list so we know they could charge a lot, lot more and still sell them, but don't. We have no such issues and from where I sit I think the more season tickets we can sell the better it is. More people in the ground, more people buying add ons etc etc. Now I agree that £200 (£180 early bird) isn't way too much, but again I think that one difference between footy and us is that we are more family orientated so families like ours are looking at buying three. Now £600 is a fair bit, especially these days when things are tight. A £200 season ticket and £20 single entrance fee also mean that its not worth buying one if you risk missing just three games. No problem in the glory days of winter rugby but easily done when you're playing games in summer. All that said I guess the bottom line and something that MS will be very aware of is that you could charge £100 and the good folk of Dewsbury might still not buy em so overall you lose. Not easy and I don't have the answer............ Do like the offer of £100 for those aged up to 22 mind. Thats good thinking. I'd also offer all those on the new estate opposite a 2024 season ticket for a much reduced fee too. Post a voucher through the door, season ticket for £75 maybe? Try and get em hooked early.

Great stuff, thanks. Mark not a fan if IMG.LOL.....He's in a group of thousands...Bet all the lower league chairmen are chuffed to bits they didn't vote against the proposals ... Slightly worried by the season ticket price. Bought three last year, that won't be happening this time around. Any idea if the club plan to market these before Xmas? Nowt on social media or the club website and not long until Crimbo now...

Missed it last night due to a prior commitment. Anything we should know about?
  7. Bailey O'Connor & Ollie Greensmith gotta be favourites for me.....
  8. Brilliant post.
  9. Of course there isn’t a merger. That would be the sensible option. Much easier to let those poor teams in League one to have what must be the smallest league in professional sport. Even the Scottish footy leagues have 10 teams.
  10. Loads of teams will be spending brass they have or haven't got. The b******ks that is IMG will ensure that.....
  11. Excellent news.
  12. Do any of you Super League fans like the golden point? Only usually visit the Championship sites and we are lucky enough to not have it. I can't understand why anyone voted for it. You play 80 minutes, manage a draw and 5 minutes later can leave with nothing. Barmy. When we had golden point in the Championship it was different in that both teams got a point and the winner in overtime got two. Surely thats fairer?
  13. A lot of sense there nine ole but I remember some fans voted to suspend our membership of the RL way back after the fire rather than play at Mount Unpleasant. Personally I think merger of Dewsbury and Batley makes a lot of sense and Id def keep supporting the merged entity ..............just so long as Owl Lane was the site for the new team
  14. I don’t have the answer but you can’t have a league with 9 teams. Well. A well run sport with sensible leaders can’t so on reflection I’m probably wrong and RL will manage it. If we’re honest we probably need no more than 30 teams with a SL of 14 amd a championship of 16 teams but it would be hard work sorting that out. Not least cos Super Dooper league clubs don’t give a **** about anyone else.

Suspect that's true. He was sat fairly close to us at the Presentation evening and looked a tad out of sorts. Hope the person squaring up has pondered what would happen if Mark voted with his feet and walked away? I suspect it would be bye bye Dewsbury Rams....
  17. Just watched the full game back. He might not have cost us the game but he certainly didn’t help. Some shocking decisions though the worst (as suspected) was the forward pass the 6 year old touch judge gave against us that lead to their next to last try. And poor old Ollie. Sin-binned for taking about 10 slaps to the face.
  18. No takers eh? Ok. I’ll start. I like the length of the field effort, away at Midlands, finished off by Lewis Carr. Cracking inside pass from Owen.
  19. Now on YouTube. Which is your favourite try?

I think it’s probably all the thanks and wild praise he gets that keeps him motivated. Bet he’s desperate to win the lottery though so people will finally appreciate his efforts
  21. Was good to hear Finny thank Mark for giving him his big opportunity on Sunday evening as I reckon there’s a few too many that don’t appreciate what he does for the club and I certainly don’t think he gets anything like the credit he should. God knows where we would we be without him. Running a club like Dewsbury must cost him dear. We are hardly moneybags Utd and I suspect we can’t even guess the amounts of brass he’s put in over the years. He also runs a steady ship and has made sure that we are prudently managed. I know some would prefer a Derek Beaumont type character topping up our coffers and spending big but the chances of us getting someone like that at Dewsbury are remote at best. I’d like to say a big thank you and pray he stays around for many a year to come. If he doesn’t it’s bye bye Rams.
  22. I’d much prefer Oldham to be honest, proper old time club who aren’t throwing money around as panic sets in. But if it’s not to be them I’d take Donny over Hunslet.
  23. They’ll def best Hunslet if they have the same touch judge and ref we had yesterday. In a tight game like yesterdays some shocking decisions decided it. And if Hunslet play like they normally do Doncaster should get at least 20 “6 agains”. How many did he give them yesterday and Hunslet are absolute masters of lying on.
  24. Indeed. All the awards thoroughly deserved, just a shame a few more couldn’t be handed out. All the lads deserved it in many ways. was great to see so many at yesterdays game. Def more Rams fans than Donny.
  25. Hope you do. Best team we’ve played this season imho. You’ve just had the odd “unlikely” result.
