'The Centurion' is the match day magazine of Leigh Centurions.

For the first Championship fixture of the season, we have increased the size of our magazine to 40 pages. The reason for the increase is that Rob Parker has been very busy attracting new advertisers to the magazine, and we refuse to compromise on the editorial content, to accommodate those adverts.

In this edition of ‘The Centurion’:-

There is news of a new incentive for Leigh fans to become regular subscribers to ‘The Centurion’. Remember, you have to be ‘in it to win it’ from this week!

Chairman John Roddy explains the rationale behind close season developments at the club, gives praise where it’s due and gives an insight into what some of our recent Super League guests thought of us! He also announces the re-formation of the Past Players association.

Head coach Paul Rowley reviews the pre-season games in an interview with Dave Parkinson, and explains the loan deal that brought Kurt Haggerty to LSV, with Craig Briscoe and Joe Bullock moving the other way.

Love Rugby League journalist Tony Williams has a message for those who constantly knock our game – even the good news stories!

Trevor Barton has some great news about the Wigan and Leigh College team, in his Community / Foundation page.

Gareth Walker, from League Express, explains why he thinks 2014, rather than 2015, will be the season where every game will count.

Unfortunately there won’t be a Captain’s Log interview this week, due to ‘technical difficulties’, which we hope to have resolved for the Whitehaven game in a fortnight!

Sharon Dillon has the latest Junior Centurions news.

Alan Edge welcomes our visitors to the LSV and has an in-depth look at the new Bulldogs and coach John Kear. He’s even managed to find an image of the Batley coach that dispels the myth that he’s always been ‘follically challenged’!

In his ‘Flat Cap’ feature, he gives good reason why we shouldn’t copy everything from the NRL, explains what happened to one Championship club, who attempted some ‘warm weather’ training, and taps into a Twitter conversation between two SL club chairmen.

Busy chap that he is, he’s also attempted to summarise the new league structure, and TV deal.

We have action photos from the pre-season games, courtesy of ‘RLPix.com’, along with a summary of all those games – for both the first team and under 20’s.

In this issue, we have a two-page centre-fold picture – but don’t get too excited chaps, it’s the team photo!

Last but by no means least, there are the usual features on LISA, the Lottery, the Touchdown club, and the Leigh squad.

I trust you will find that our magazine,  priced at £2.50 for 40 pages, is excellent value for money, and a good read!

Good morning Bulldogs. The weather is good, here in Leigh and the pitch should be excellent, for another tense, close game between our clubs.

This is my last programme as editor,  and it would be fantastic to see it sold out. So come on, show the 'Leythers' that it's just the Fev and Fax fans who are 'tight' Yorkshiremen. It could well become a collectors' item!! ;)
