What a great evening of Wheelchair Rugby League! On 13th August 2015 the Keighley Cougars launched their first ever wheelchair rugby league team and we had over 20 players, some new and some experienced WRL players.

The night included lots of mini games including developing chair skills, passing, catching and kicking skills and every player got the opportunity to have a go in a small sided game of wheelchair rugby league!

We also had some special guest speakers in 5 international wheelchair rugby league players, 3 of which are part of the England team which won the WRL World Cup!

From the Keighley Cougars we had Sam Wilkin, Alfie Sealy and Connor Taylor who did a fantastic job of getting stuck in and having a go at wheelchair rugby league, they are also doing a fantastic job playing for the Cougars reserve team and show what a great future Keighley Rugby League has!

The night also raised some money towards the Danny Jones fund which is a huge honour to have helped towards such a great cause.

The Keighley Cougars Wheelchair Rugby League club are aiming to build up to enter a competitive league within 12 months and to begin with will train every Thursday at the University Academy Keighley, Greenhead Road, BD20 6EB from 7-8pm with ambitions to add in a second session once we have developed the club. Cost is just £2 per session and will in the future be putting a club membership pack together.

Wheelchair Rugby League is all inclusive and anyone is welcome regardless of disability, ability, WRL experience, age, gender and even able bodied players are welcome to train and compete.
