GOSSIP: Gallen closing in on Super League

NRL legend Paul Gallen, 34, will be a Super League player in 2017.

The Australian enforcer’s deal with Cronulla Sharks expires at the end of the season and his representative career looks to be over, too, with this year’s Origin series his last.

His availability has caught the attention of several UK clubs but his salary demands should rule out anyone currently utilising the Marquee Player rule (i.e Wigan and Hull). Salford are seen as front-runners, with Gallen’s former national boss Tim Sheens at the club.
