JOHN BATEMAN joining Warrington until the end of this season is an interesting one.
It looks okay on paper, but what’s the reasoning behind his return from Australia, and will he go back to Wests, where he has a lucrative contract for two more seasons after this?
In my view, he hasn’t been pulling up any trees in the NRL of late, and doesn’t seem quite the same player he was for Wigan and Canberra.
Could this reignite him and provide the spark for Warrington to kick on, or with things going so well at the moment, will it upset the apple cart? Time will tell.
Bateman is all set to make his debut at home to Hull KR on Friday, and that will add an extra dimension to what was already an interesting fixture.
Buoyed by their great win over Wigan, I expect Warrington to make it six on the trot, by 14 points.
I think Wigan will bounce back and beat visitors Huddersfield by 28, but can see St Helens coming another cropper at Hull, and losing by ten.
In the other games, I’m tipping Leigh by ten at Castleford, Salford by the same margin at home to Leeds and Catalans by 22 at London.
