Joe Burgess happy to be back in English winter, reveals Robinson

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has revealed that England winger Joe Burgess has fitted in superbly at the club – but he’s happy to be back in the cooler English heat for a week or two!

Burgess, who made the switch to the Roosters from Wigan Warriors during the off-season, will be part of the Sydney team that take to the field in the opening game of the World Club Series on Friday, as they face St Helens in the three-match series.

And Robinson, speaking at the launch of the event earlier this week, admitted that the players have taken to Burgess’ arrival well, and that he’s already had a few cases of sunburn – something he won’t need to worry about this weekend.

“I didn’t now Joe beforehand but he’s fitted in very well,” said Robinson. “He’s a really likeable kid and all the players have been drawn to him. He’s a pretty funny guy.

“He’s had a few sunburns early, the heat is the big thing for him. He’s happy to feel two degrees again rather than 32.”
