Kilshaw out to make Spotland a fortress for Rochdale

Alan Kilshaw has admitted his Rochdale side are in desperate need of a victory ahead of their clash with Barrow.

The Hornets are winless after the opening month of the season although they put in an encouraging display against Halifax in their last home outing.

Next up is the visit of Barrow, who have impressed greatly on home soil but are yet to win on the road.

It makes for an intriguing battle at Spotland, but Kilshaw is focused on getting two points.

“I think every game against the part-time teams at home are important ones,” he said.

“We’re going through a process and it will take time but we know we’re capable and we played some really good stuff against Halifax when we were last at Spotland.

“We have to find a way to make it a fortress, it’s not like other places where players don’t like going because of the facilities as Spotland is great.

“So we have to do something different, that means tackling well, running hard and putting on a good brand of rugby.”
