Sa and Flynn released by Widnes

Setaimata Sa and Paddy Flynn have departed Widnes Vikings.

Sa, who only joined the club from Hull FC ahead of the 2016 season, is set to return home following six seasons in Super League. He joined Catalans in 2010 and spent three years at the club before joining Hull FC in 2014.

Meanwhile, Flynn leaves Widnes after nine years at the club. Since making his debut in 2008, the winger went on to make 168 appearances for the Vikings in both the Championship and Super League, scoring 95 tries. However, he struggled to secure regular action in 2016 after dropping down the pecking order behind Corey Thompson, which resulted in him joining Castleford on loan.

Meanwhile, 20-year old Almer Salvilla has asked to be released from his current contract after deciding to pursue other potential career opportunities. Almer has represented the club for a number of years and was awarded the Under 19’s Player of the Year award in 2014.
