South Wales sign Manase Manuokafoa’s son

South Wales Scorpions have made three new signings ahead of their game against Barrow this Saturday – including the son of a current Super League prop forward.

Manase Manuokfoa’s son, Micah, has penned a deal with the Kingstone Press League 1 side, having previously played for Widnes RUFC.

The 17-year-old forward came through the youth system at Shaw Cross Sharks in the past, before playing rugby union with Widnes RUFC.

Eligible to play internationally for Australia, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa, Manuokafoa, who is 195cm tall and weighing 126kg, recently spent some time in Sale Sharks’ under-18 academy squad.

He signs alongside two other players, Jonny Leather and Ryan Millington, who have also joined the Scorpions.

Scorpions’ coach Mike Grady said: “Ryan and Jonny will give us some much needed experience as they’ve both had a few seasons at League 1 level.

“Micah is young but he’s strong and has been brought up in Rugby League. He’s been looking for this chance and I know he won’t waste it.

“All three are looking forward to hopefully playing at Cardiff Arms Park against North Wales Crusaders in the Big Welsh Derby on Sunday 10th May but they’ll be wanting to help us to a win or two before that.”
