Spencer to leave Halifax

Halifax have confirmed that the club will not be renewing the contract of backrower Jack Spencer when it expires at the end of the current season.

Spencer, who has featured 15 times for the club this season, came through the ranks at Salford Red Devils before joining Halifax for the start of the 2014 season.

The 24 year-old will still be available for selection for the remainder of the season and coach Richard Marshall added: “Unfortunately this season has been quite stop-start for Jack and he hasn’t been able to nail down a starting spot in the side

“By making this announcement we are hoping that it will allow Jack to find another club for the start of next season.

“We have a lot of players who can play in a similar role and Jack has found himself down the pecking order somewhat due to the form of some of the lads in the pack.”

Halifax will make more squad announcements for the 2016 season in due course.
