Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has emphatically insisted that there is no pressure on his team tonight at Headingley – and says it’s the perfect game for his side.
The Tigers infamously won at Headingley earlier in the season, but return to Leeds tonight knowing they are only playing for pride for the rest of 2015 after failing to make the top four.
But Powell believes that given the situation and the fact Leeds are aiming to overcome back-to-back defeats, it means there’s no pressure on his team to get a result.
“There’s absolutely no pressure on us, I think it’s probably the perfect game. If we lose everybody expects us to, if we win then it’s fantastic for us,” he said.
“I think the players effort wise are ready to go. Game plan wise I think we’re playing well with the ball and are challenging everybody we play against. But we have to defend better. You have to defend well at Leeds otherwise you are going to be on the end of a heavy scoreline.”
