Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has described Friday’s game against Hull FC as a “lot of kids in against a team of superstars” – hinting that his team are the underdogs.
Despite the Warriors winning their first three games of the new season, Wane insists that Hull’s recruitment and Wigan’s injury problems – which he says “never get mentioned” make this a different challenge to their recent journeys across the Pennines to the KC Stadium.
“They’re a different team, they’ve bought big names, there are a lot of expectations there. I know it never gets mentioned but we’re down six starters,” he told Wigan Today.
“We’ve got a lot of kids in against a team of superstars.
“The ex-NRL players they have are unbelievable – big stars, big names, so this is a different challenge.
“We’ll be confident that if we’re at our best we’ll have a go at them. We’re up against it.”
