Wane wary of Huddersfield

Wigan coach Shaun Wane insists his side will not take Huddersfield lightly when the two teams go to battle on Thursday.

The Warriors go into the game joint top of Super League following victory over Castleford and are 12 points ahead of Huddersfield, who remain bottom of Super League despite their shock victory over fellow pacesetters Warrington Wolves.

Huddersfield’s victory over the Wolves has made people take notice, but Wane insists they’ve always been a threat this year.

“They’re getting back to how Huddersfield play now,” he said.

“We won’t underestimate them. Not many teams can keep Warrington to nil, they’ll be a real threat to us. I like the way they play. I said the other week they’d be back and they’ve picked up some results recently.

“Danny Brough has been outstanding this last few weeks. He’s the man and the one who is pushing all of the buttons.”

Wane has been handed a major boost with the news that Sean O’Loughlin, Dom Manfredi, Anthony Gelling and Ben Flower should all be available to return for the match while George Williams and Sam Tomkins are nearing a return.
