Wayne Bennett heading to England this month

New England coach Wayne Bennett will head to the country later this month to begin his preparations for his first programme in charge of the national side later this year.

The RFL have confirmed that Bennett will travel halfway around the world to take in a round of Super League around the mid-part of the month.

That is when Bennett’s Brisbane Broncos have a bye weekend, which is likely to coincide with his trip to England to meet with his new coaching staff – including assistant Denis Betts.

“Everyone is looking forward to Wayne’s visit as part of our preparations for this year’s Four Nations,” RFL chief executive Nigel Wood told Rugby-League.com.

“The timing of Wayne’s arrival could not be better and it will provide a terrific opportunity for him to access the playing talent in the First Utility Super League.”

Wood also confirmed that some of the England camp will meet up with Bennett, too.

“There will be a get together for UK based England players and Wayne will also be catching up with all England staff and colleagues from within the RFL’s Performance department as preparations intensify for the end of season Internationals.”
