Fans wishing to attend the Tetley’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 23 are being advised to act fast to secure a place at the most prestigious match in Rugby League.
With still ten days to go until Castleford Tigers take on Leeds Rhinos in the sport’s showcase Wembley final, over 70,000 tickets have been snapped up by those eager to witness Cup history in the making.
Leeds and Castleford have not lifted the trophy in a combined 33 years, and with tickets still selling strongly, fans are being urged to guarantee their place at the final now to avoid disappointment.
“This is one of the most eagerly-anticipated finals in a very long time,” said RFL Marketing Director Mark Foster.
“We have all the ingredients of a mouth-watering event, which has really captured the imagination of Rugby League fans across the country.
“This is more than just a final – it is a final between two local rivals in a competition steeped in history. The demand to see this event has been so high that we have had to employ extra ticketing staff, just to cope with demand.
“The story has been similar at Leeds and Castleford, who have seen queues of fans lining up for tickets to Wembley, however both clubs do still have tickets remaining at the moment.
“Tickets in the lower tier of the stadium are also very nearly sold out, with less than 500 remaining, so we would urge fans to purchase their tickets now to avoid disappointment.”
