I know he was a 1 season wonder, or not long term, but wouldn't Meninga get a shirt somewhere?

Scuse the ignorance of yoof but how many aren't British, I know of TVV. It'd be nice to have a predominently British Greatest Ever Saints side.

Cheeky whippersnapper !

Mind you, I had to look Les Fairclough up cos he played from 1918 to 1932 which is a bit before my time. Padge and L'ang probably saw him play though.......

I had an argument pre tri-nations final that NEwlove was better than Inglis. I will always always stand by this. Best centre i've seen. * i don't remember if he was a good defender or not so please don't spoil it. He also never played for Cas.

We don't celebrate people like him enough. This guy and others of his ilk should never have to work again.

John Mantle was a Super League forward playing in the 70's - fast, mobile and strong.

Wello is a great servant but I would rate Geoff Pimblett's all round game better.

Loughlin was a world beater with a casual attitude.

Struggling for a stand off - didn't Walsh play there quite a bit, or you could put Bishop in at 7 and Murphy 6.

As the great man said, you can't pick a team of Wigan legends there are to many, you can't pick a team of Saints legends either, there aren't enough.

Lots of surprising omissions Meninga, Lyon, Tommy Martyn, Chris Arkwright IMHO however some of the older players named I didnt know about so I guess its good there is a nice mix.

In the case of Meninga I think Saints fans must have gone for players who have stayed at the club for a reasonable amount of time

First player that sprang to my mind too. I thought he was a genius.

The second one was Steve Prescott. I'd have him in ahead of Wellens any day.
