They are a farce - players just going through the motions with no possibility of 'winning one against the head'. For me it would be a step in the right direction to make them 'competitive' like they used to be. It would re-introduce a skill which we have missed for some time now.
To further improve the game I would go back to only retreating 3 yards after the tackle is complete instead of the 10 we have now. Players would have to be more creative to beat the man in front of them. The way the game is going now players are getting bigger and largely relying on barging through the opposition rather than using a bit of guile.
As one of the previous posts put it - we are in danger of becoming more like American football.
Rents paid by clubs to council owned grounds are five figure sums per game. This being the obvious advantage clubs like ours have owning our own ground.
Why not cash in if we can - we use it about 15 times per year. Would the pitch stand up to it? I doubt there would be a problem. The Wakey lads don't run about much, they just tend to stand behind the sticks most of the game
