#3158049 Ground share with Wakey?

Posted by PonteBlue on 14 July 2015 - 12:04 PM

Rents paid by clubs to council owned grounds are five figure sums per game. This being the obvious advantage clubs like ours have owning our own ground.

Why not cash in if we can - we use it about 15 times per year. Would the pitch stand up to it? I doubt there would be a problem. The Wakey lads don't run about much, they just tend to stand behind the sticks most of the game ;)

Didn't realise how tough Eagles run in is:

Only top 2 certain of making middle 8's.

#3151551 Team for Bradford game

Absolutely delighted for the club and fans, what a result but absolutely gutted I missed it,was in Manchester watching Fleetwood Mac,had to keep tapping my phone to make sure it wasn't broke when I saw the score,I know it's all academic but do you think we would have achieved the same result if the fixture would have gone ahead as planned weeks ago ?

Hmmm, go watch Fleetwood Mac or Fev?

Think I would have told our lass I'm off to watch Fev, 'you can go your own way'.

Looked a different player didn't he Phil? If he plays like that week in, week out then he definitely offers more to the team than Sharp.

Great game agreed. Had a similar impact away v Dewsbury.

For me Sharpe better under high ball and much more consistent though.

6 is about right IMO.

Don't just need cover for injuries, you need cover for the unforeseen, don't forget need cover for suspensions too - ask Leigh and Fax. Apparently fighting, in last Sunday's game between the two, was interrupted when a game of rugby broke out on the field ;)

I look forward to the return match at their place..................oh silly me, they haven't got a place.

#3100254 Rovers v London and Sheffield match threads.

Too fed up to post last night, agree with all of the above.

For me London got tactics spot on, kicking early if not making ground to make sure we  were always starting from our own line in wet conditions. We didn't play conditions well - we must have dropped the ball a dozen times.

I sat in the new stand last night and on the rare occasion we got down that end was sad to see no on field leader. The only bloke who looked like he was trying to organise things was Sharpy - the bloke looked upset how things were going and was drifting in from the wing shouting orders.

Any chance Stuart Dickens will still have a pair of boots?

I think we need to start thinking of a plan 'B' straight away.

This may work tonight v London but won't work against sides with a decent travelling support.

Also, player of the month awarded to Sam Irwin - good to hear Sam say a few words.

Good to hear report on positive start made by U16's. Young kid from Oldham won player of the month. Interesting to hear how U16's made up from players all over the place (York's, Lanc's and Humberside) who want to play for the Rovers.

Good turn out on a cold rainy night.

Another signature from the Rovers.

Was working in Huntington just after Xmas and had a walk down to old ground - very sad.

Hi Ricardo,

Hope all is well.

Just in case people think a jar of change won't make much difference, could you please post your running total for monies raised by this method. It's amazing what can be achieved if we all muck in. The total you quoted when we last spoke was jaw dropping - I could have a guess but don't want to steal your thunder.

You, like the volunteers working on the ground, deserve a medal.

1. Wood

2. Sharpe

3. Irwin

Wood a clear leader. Ran in well and constantly talking / organising. Just 2nd for me Sharpe, makes a lot of yards with tacklers on his back. You learn a lot about players when things not going your way. Think Wood and Sharpe set a good example.

Hi Mo'

Am ok to come down one day next week - it's half term so might get a few more takers?

#3065043 Learn from the three mistakes

Posted by PonteBlue on 02 February 2015 - 12:20 PM

After all the shenanigans of last season, at times I was left wondering would we have a club never mind anything else. Then like a phoenix rising from the ashes we see the volunteers carrying on their good work, and MC and the board delivering a squad most people could only have dreamt about, yes there may have been some things not right but above all else we should be shouting from the rooftops what we are achieving at this club this season. If people have a problem with how the club is run go straight to the man at the top I'm sure he will accommodate you with an honest answer. I appreciate we all have different opinions but this season should be about positivity and generating interest back into this great club.

Agree 100% Knottla.

Lets get back to, as you rightly say 'shouting from the roof top's'

If you draw up a list of all the good stuff which is happening at the club any short term issues, like the pitch, instantly fade away.
