If I was a Cas fan, I'd feel more comfortable if it was clear that sacking McGuire was a Chester decision. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

14 team SL a possibility next season

Or they are being delivered different verdicts by different people, as we design by committee again. -
Yep, that was me. I think it would be very unfair to expect a player to sustain 30+ carries a game, like Hodgson has for the last couple of games. I think there are valid arguments for either to play wing / full back. I don't think we beat Hudds, Wakey and Catalans in that run of away games without Armstrong in the team. And his link up with the half backs was getting better during that spell. But having Hodgson, Niu and Charnley in the backline getting 150+ metres in the game means the forwards aren't having to make as much ground.

SL clubs look to reinstate Nigel Wood.

In the short term, raising standards means replacing players with better players. The whole idea of using number of NRL appearances as a sole measure of how good a player will be in SL has been disproved time and time again. Of course, in the long term, raising standards means improving systems and processes that will lead to more better players that are all playing for more strong clubs. But clubs will, rightly or wrongly, argue that they need to do something quick to get more money in the sport to be able to do things for the longer term. Fwiw, I think 10 is too many, but would’ve upped it to 8. And I also don’t like the idea of 14. Would prefer 12, rid of loop fixtures and create a group stage of the cup to create an extra guaranteed home game. But then again, I’m not privy to the information that the people voting on any changes are, and they will have their reasons. -
Obviously a lot of games to be played between now and Armstrong being available again, so who knows what will happen. Contracts might also play a part, with Hodgson only contracted for next year and Armstrong likely having an NRL clause, should any offers come in during his 3 year contract. But my hope is that we can tie Hodgson down to a longer contract. At the moment, I would say Armstrong would still be my pick if he was available. Hodgson gets through a ton of work, but Armstrong is a match winner. But if Hodgson adds some line breaks, tries and assists to his stats then he will be a shoe in for the number 1 shirt. He'll need to pick a few things up with experience as well, like how he's numbering the defence up and he might be a bit smarter with the number of carries he takes. There were a few yesterday that I thought would've been better served taken by a forward and let him at least try and conserve some more energy to allow him to provide a bit more attacking threat.

Whilever we have a second tier living off scraps in funding and week to week loans and DR players, with the pinnacle being a final game played on one of the club's home grounds, then clubs will do whatever they can to avoid it.

He was saying Catalans were being kicked out not so long ago. He seems to be on a rabble rousing mission. Of course, there is the possibility that Bradford end up in the top 14 gradings, and make a mockery of the facilities scoring in the process. -

The crowds will soon drop if a team is getting hammered every week though. Leigh did the reduced funding place in 2021, it was not good. -

Not sure IMG points will be relevant any more. -
Overseas player allowance officially increased

Isn't this just a reflection of the quality of young players clubs can attract in the first place, rather than the work the club does with them?
