Departing Castleford hooker Daryl Clark says although his high-profile transfer to Warrington next year “needed to come out”, he is fully concentrating on the Tigers for the remainder of 2014.
Clark’s long-suggested move across the Pennines was finally confirmed last week, with the young hooker joining the Wolves on a four-year deal for six-figure transfer fee – believed to be £185,000.
The hooker says it has been tough to not think about the move, given how it has been in the offing for so long, but has reassured Tigers fans he is fully focused on collecting silverware with the club in 2014.
“It’s been a strange week; everything has happened so fast since Wembley – it’s all hit me at once. It needed to come out though and there’s been no issue with that,” Clark told League Express.

“I’ve known for a long time, but I’ve tried to put it to the back of my mind and not really think about it too much. Now that it has come out in the open you’ve got to think about it a little, but I just want to concentrate on what I’m doing here and finish on a high for this club.
“At the time it’s no secret the club was struggling; they were at the bottom of the league and the deal seemed to suit both parties. It just felt like the right time. The deal has been done for a while now, and I stand by it.”
Clark admits he is looking forward to working alongside experienced hooker Micky Higham next year at the Wolves, which could take his game to the next level.
“He’s an experienced hooker who has been around the game for a long time, and won lots of trophies. I’m really looking forward to working with him and alongside him,” said Clark.
“Since I’ve been here it’s pretty much been me and Adam Milner, so it’ll be nice to have an experienced hooker to bounce off and learn some new tricks from. That’s a big thing for me moving forward.”
