Reports in Australia are suggesting that national team coach Tim Sheens has agreed to remain in charge of the Kangaroos for at least another year.
Sheens, who has indicated previously that he would like to coach the Australians in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, will be in charge for the Kangaroos’ sole match in 2015, when they face New Zealand on May 1 in Brisbane.
That mid-season Test has plenty on the line though – as the winners of the game will be confirmed as the No. 1 ranked Rugby League side in the world. There is also revenge on the agenda for the Aussies, after their defeat to New Zealand in the Four Nations final last year.
Sheens’ record as Australian coach is simply phenomenal; he has coached them in 30 Tests since taking charge, winning a staggering 26 of those, and losing just three, with a solitary draw to his name.
Sheens is currently on his way to the United Kingdom to take on a temporary role with Salford Red Devils, after owner Marwan Koukash confirmed he would be helping out Iestyn Harris for a number of weeks.
